“Co-ageing Design” is a feasible and practical design approach, particularly for developing home furniture that supports active ageing and ageing in place.
This project seeks to substantiate the hypothesis of the Co-ageing Design approach by examining elderly–furniture interactions in the home and their correlation with daily activities and community life.
The findings will contribute to the development of a practical design theory to guide the creation of furniture for older adults—especially those living in small apartments with limited financial resources.
The core concept of this approach lies in designing furniture with an inherent capacity for future adaptation, enabling it to evolve in response to the changing needs of older users over time.
